It’s hard to believe my oldest “baby” is now 8! He is such a boy!! He loves riding bikes, swimming, hiking, playing swords, Roy Rogers, light sabers, and of course digging in the dirt! He was planning to buy this surplus miltary shovel with his birthday money, but we surprised him with it instead. We thought he’d forgotten about it, but the day of his birthday he told us he was going to “buy that shovel on the computer”. Boy, were we excited that that’s what we had already gotten and had wrapped for him.

The week of his birthday he had been going to soccer camp everyday and his friend, Stephen, was also there. They share a birthday, so their family had us over for dinner to celebrate. The pictures below show the cakes that Stephen’s mom made and Nate right after he opened his shovel.
